Quick and Postal: Half a Week's Mail!

Happy Happy Thursday (again) Readers! I have been gone for a week and during that time I have gotten so much awesome mail in; postcards from all over the world and letters galore have graced my little PO Box with their presence! BUT, being as technology seems to hate me, my wireless router died and my phone never updates the blog correctly...so here I am now with the first half of the stash! Less talk more mail, shall we?

JoAnne sends a card from Pismo Beach! Two hours away from her home town, Pismo is her favorite place to surf, eat clam chowder and find off the wall lolly pops....apparently they make some with tequila and a worm in them! :)

Up the road in Miami, OK, Mariah sends a card from Dwelling Spaces! Tulsa is home of 90s boy-band 'Hanson' as well as the famous Cains Ballroom....where I am attending a concert tonight! :)

Kathie sends me a little piece of home! The Treasure Ship in Panama City Beach is a 200ft long Spanish galleon replica that houses three enormous restaurants.

Andrea in Tokyo sends me a view of Misaka Pass where you can gain access to Mt. Fuji! Thank you, I love getting cards from Japan :)

All the way from Deventer, Netherlands comes a very cute card! Deventer is one of the oldest towns in The Netherlands and is also home to the oldest stone home! Thanks, Maren.

Ms. Rachel Doyle of Swap-bot fame sends me a photo she took when she got her new macro lends! I love these little flowers, even if they are weeds. Who can resist plucking one from the yard and blowing the little puffy seeds everywhere? :D

A very crafty and wonderful letter from my pal, Dana! Check her out over at Save Snail Mail! She will be at the National Stationery Show this week!

Mikki in Houston sends me some mail love in an adorable little envelope with the matching tape! I still love, love, love these little envies. I'll have to hit her up for her source ;)
 (and matching stationery..so jealous)

Ms. Jeni drops a line to let me know that all is well in her neck of the woods. On an adorable little card at that!

Mail pal Ambrosia catches me up in a  wonderfully long letter :)

She adds a great stamp and the post office was kind enough to give me the mothers day post mark hahhaah!

Tatyana in Russia sends me a hand made postcard; a student studying mathematics and design, she also enjoys creating her own art! :) I love it, thank you!!!!!

Check out these awesome movie slips/advertisments that she was kind enough to throw in for me!

Salem just loves when letters come from Lucas. She rubs her face on them, chews on them, bats at the pages and then pouts when I try to take it away so that I can read it!

Phew! What a great heap of mail lovin'!! The best part is I have another whole stack to get up for you all! I have been dropping postcards in the mail like crazy and now it's time to get in to "letter reply mode". I'll write back to everyone soon and I promise to not go another week with out updating *prays fervently to the technology gods*. Happy Mailing Folks! :D

First Day Cover from Finland!

Happy Happy M....THURSDAY!!! Oh goodness.....seems like updating has gotten a bit away from me....

Well, happy, happy Thursday Readers! I hope that everyone is making it along well for this week. Mail is beginning to get a little heavier in my neck of the woods...seems the letter burst before I went on vacation has helped me to keep the mail man circling :)  I've picked up a good handful today that I have to rate/reply/photograph for you all but I thought one letter I would post about ASAP. Hope you all like it! Let's go...

I opened my mail box this afternoon to find a letter (one of few) which had arrived from Finland! Inside, a long-handwritten letter and a beautiful postcards (which I am going to secretly stash for myself.....) comes from Swap partner Mette!

A postmark from Helsinki and a stamp featuring Turronsuo National Park. Located near the Tavastia Proper region of Finland, this all but natural swampland area was already protected before being declared a park in 1990.

The Envelope! Featuring the First Day Cover art called "The Spring of Life", created by Pietari Posti. More of Posti's work can be seen by going to this website.

What an awesome thing to get in your mailbox! Thank you Mette, I will write back very soon. :) In the mean time I am off to get my new mail logged and get a couple of postcards out for the day! Happy Mailing!

I've also managed to get a bunch of postcards ready for Monday morning, hopefully there will be a few letters in there too! Let's get to it, shall we?

Pups Casey and Leela play a game of night stick in Tony Mendoza's Dogs: A Postcard Book . Special thanks to Tammy in NC for making my day with these adorable furrballs!

Who doesn't love an art card? Swapper Reauk always finds a great card to send me!

Marleen sends a Cavallini reproduction postcard! I love the old stamps and postmarks! Mail inspired mail :D I'll have to see if I can get my hands on a set of these to share. Thank you!

Mail Pal Deb in Pennsylvania sends me a mural by artist Michael Webb. The paintings which can be found all around the city and features "The York Plan". Adopted nation wide during WW 2, The York Plan pooled community assets to create industry for handing massive defense contracts.

Places Postcards

Happy Thursday Readers! I hope that this Friday-Eve is treating you all very well. Things seem to be falling in to place for me left and right which means I actually get a chance or two to breathe and write some really good letters. A handful came in today- mostly letters which is also exciting. I decided to break the remaining postcards from vacation in to two groups: Places and Things.  Today we have the former to show off, four postcards from around the world! Let's get to it shall we?

Jan sends a fun and colorful card my way--a huge Christmas Lights Display in Raleigh, NC. The light display, set up by and in memory of Rich Moore showcases over 1,000 lights and several novelties. Interested? I found out more about them here!

Jennifer sends a card from Port Orford, Oregon which is home to a fishing fleet that dry docks their boats every night and then lowers them in to the ocean every morning for a full day of fishing!

Mail friend Andrea drops a line from Staten Island!

Irina in Constanta, Poland sends a multi-view card, making my second from this Polish city! Thank you! I love it :)

She also sends a Romanian stamp featuring painter Nicolae Grigorescu

That's all for today! I'm off to read and reply to some mail--maybe sign up for some swaps (hmm I haven't hosted one in a while....) and have a relaxing Thursday night. Look for round three (and final round) of vacation mail tomorrow, then I should be back to the regularly scheduled program :D

Postcrossing and Penpals!

Happy Happy Wednesday Readers! I hope the middle of the week finds you all with a good handful of mail  and a smile on your face. I managed to get a few things out today and I had a few prepared but my mail carrier decided to come early....Oh, well! that just means even more mail surprises go out tomorrow. As I am getting caught up on mail, it's time to catch you all up as well. Everything has been logged, photographed and sorted which means its time to share and time to get writing!

Today's selection (sounds fancy, huh?) comes from Postcrossing and two pen pals--one of which who is new and who wrote after seeing the blog! Hurrah!! Let's get to some mail, shall we?

First up from a friend in Taipei City comes my first card featuring a Peking Opera Performer! Peking opera is a traditional form of Chinese theatre.

The stamps are also pretty :)

Next up comes a multi-view of Poland from Yvonne in Krakow

Check out the awesome stamps she was kind enough to send my way!

A mail friend in China sends this whimsical card (one of her favorites) because it reminds her of her child hood in the country side--chasing birds and catching butterflies!

More awesome stamps. I have to say that I am partial to the Sparrows

Svenja in Eastern Germany sends a Trabi! Trabi's are the car of the GDR (German Democratic Republic). As the Trabi was the only car in the GDR, the wait list could be 20 years long and children were registered on the wait list at birth!

A colorful and fun letter makes it's way home from Juli (who is quite possibly the fastest letter replier, ever)! I love these envelopes, someone remind me to ask where she gets them!

And finally for this batch comes a letter from Annejo in the Netherlands! I always love (and very much appreciate!!) when a reader decides to drop a letter my way. I will write back soon, I hope you stop by today to see your letter featured :)

There is plenty more where that came from! I'm off to get some things together and get at least a couple of letters out! Happy Mailing everyone!

Quick and Dirty Monday Update!

Hello Readers, Followers, Lurkers and Passersby! I am happy to report that I am home from a wonderful vacation in Denver! I had a great time but I have to admit that I was excited to check my mail box this afternoon :)

I got a *ton* of awesome mail; swaps, letters, postcards and pen pals all made their way to my little PO Box this week AND I managed to round up some pretty awesome cards to send to you all! I still have to sort through it, photograph the mail for the blog and register/rate/reply (the three R's of Mail?)! For now a quick glimpse at the goods and one card that I found particularly appropriate today!

The haul of "To Be Sent" Denver cards--views from The Mint, Red Rocks, the Airport and Downtown, just to name a few!!!! PS....ask and you shall receive!

Look at everything that came out of my mail box today! I love that "Ernie the Envie"
from
Swap-bot is front and center :D

A perfect "Mondaze" postcard makes it's way from Eunice in South Africa! I think the doctor really hit the nail on the head! :)

Check out the cool stamps she sent along! The bead work airplane is awesome!

I'm off to get the dirty work done! I should have all of the photos up tomorrow and hopefully some insight in to a few neat stationary places I've come across, until then, Happy Mailing!

Weekend update

Happy Saturday! Another cool, Spring day here in Oklahoma. Perfect for writing letters...or packing your bags for a vacation to the North West.. just sayin' :). Let's get to the mail, shall we?

I always love mail-related-mail...Thank you, Deb who sends a card featuring Civil War, reused envelopes. When soldiers ran out of envelopes, they used what ever they could get their hands on-textbooks, wallpaper, used envies inside out--to send their mail!

Check out the early Americana stamps that came with the hand cancelled postmark!
A very lovely (and surprise) letter comes from The Fancy Lady!
Full of wonderful surprises-a great card, and Russian Stacking doll paper. How cute!

The back of the well decorated envie...Thanks, Lady!

A letter from Miranda makes its way across the pond...

...in a very colorful, playful and kitchy envie! I love these, I really need to be on the look out. I'm afraid my white envelopes are rather dull....

and finally, my first stamp featuring King Edward VIII. Thanks, Miranda! I'll write back soon.

Salem is sad the mail isn't for her so she steals it...

I might have only snagged a little bit of mail this afternoon but I have to say that it's pretty great mail! I'm heading out to Denver in the morning- not sure if I will be able to update everyday but I will try to keep my eye out for mail related awesomeness---and of course I'll pick up some postcards! See you all soon :) xox randi
