Postcard Request! Help some students out!

Hello Readers and Happy Happy Wednesday! I saw this on Bev Sykes site The Pen Pal Project. Seems one of her friends works at a school and they are collecting as many different postcards as they can for their diversity/international day. It doesn't matter if they get multiples from each city/state/country--it just matters that they get some in! Happy Monday All! Sorry for the late post-I came home and started writing letters (while watching bad reality TV, which always makes the process a little slower...oops).

I got a handful of things in the mail today from Walltype and  Swap-bot and also one card from Send Something.

I had a ton of outgoing mail today. Mostly to states and one to Finland. The foreign card was a private swap on Postcrossing and the rest all went to my partners on Swap-bot. I am going to get Back in to the habit of listing where I send out mail starting tomorrow! And I think I will be making more of a point to let you all know what my letter friends wrote to me about, a few cards/letters that I have gotten referencing my blog have mentioned they would like to see what I'm reading from you all :)

Calling All Swap Lovers!

Happy Sunday everyone! I hope you all have been having a great day.  Today has been a day full of writing letters and postcards for me, most of which are going to my partners for various swaps on Swap-bot.

Since I have spent so much time on the site the last couple weeks wracking up swaps and ratings (and giving out ratings for the awesome cards and letters I have gotten so far!) I decided to start my own swap!

As some of you know, I live in the Tulsa, Oklahoma area and being that the city and surrounding towns are home to some pretty odd things I feel like the best swap to create would be "Weird and Touristy from your State". Show off the oddball things from your state that either everyone comes to see or only the locals know about. The swap will be a snail mail swap (of course) and can be letters, postcards, or pictures--what ever best represents what you have going for your home!

Fat and Happy Mailbox Thursday!!!!!

Today was a pretty darn good day to be my mailbox! I got 8 postcards in total from Postcrossing, Swap-Bot, Walltype and Send Something. Talk about a pretty good spread, huh?

And also in my mailbox today (it wasn't quite as much of a surprise but still) I got the goodies I ordered to surprise other people trips to the mail!

I hope that everyone had a relaxing weekend and that Monday wasn't to hard on anybody ( I don't know about you all but the technology at my workplace defiantly knew it was Monday--can we say 5 computer restarts before 11:00 am?)

The good news is there were a few good pieces of mail to brighten my day!

Snail Mail from China

 A couple of weeks ago I swapped a postcard on Postcrossing with user YJ1989060 from Beijing, China. She sent me a beautiful card of the sea coast that was actually the winner of a photo competition and made in to a postcard! (Apparently collecting the postcards published from these competitions is quite popular amongst the younger crowd in Beijing.)

We agreed to a private swap and today the goods arrived (for both of us ironically enough)

Each postcard is a winner of a photo/art competition that was published and each one is numbered. The red pocket (Top L) is an item that is used during festivals or holidays and is usually given from adults to children with money inside. Mine had stamps included hahah!

She was kind enough to send me some very lovely stamps from China--I need to write her back and tell her how much I love peacocks.

****On a side note, I found out today that Bev over at The PenPal Project  got the card that I sent her and she has actually visited the little town in Oklahoma that I am currently living in*****

Saturday = Mail Jackpot!!!

I thought today that I might get a postcard, maybe two if I were very lucky but to my delight I found two loose post cards and two packages of postcards!!!!


First up a Walltype postcard from the every-so-lovely Missive Maven who I have now encountered on quite a few sites, including hers and mine! You are right my dear, days with out mail are horrible days, but thanks to you my mail box was plenty of full! Thank you for the awesome card.

Second at bat we have a Postcrossing card from user SCBath (or Sue) in Minnesota. The card is a photograph of author Maud Hart Lovelace, most famous for her Betsy-Tacy series, who hails from Mankato, MN.

and last (for this post...) I have my first package from the lovely MissK over at Walltype (who you might recall is my first official pen pal!).  MissK is from California and was kind enough to oblige my love of the West coast with two cards from L.A., two from Malibu, one from Santa Monica, and one showing SoCal!

Thank you for thinking of me on your vacation! The favor will be returned, I promise!!! :)

Unfortunately no mail circulated today, but here is a quick shot of what I am sending out to Postcrossing and Walltype* and a few letter lovers I have been talking to this weekend! Hopefully my mailbox will be full too! :)

I am going to try my hand at a home made card tonight...I'll let you know how it goes--good or bad!

(Note: 10:54pm tomorrows outgoing mail has increased from 10 items to 17 items. I think it's time to stop tonight, I'll post a pic of them in the box tomorrow!)

Buy a Stamp, Save a Tiger

The "Save Vanishing Species Semipostal" is now availiable for pre-order from the USPS.  The stamps, which will officially go on sale September 2011, are First Class stamps which will cost 0.55 cents as opposed to the 0.44 of the regular First Class issue. The extra 0.11 cents will go to various conservation funds to save vanishing wild species.

Little Corner of Fun

Hello Hello! This is my first little blog (and first blog post). I have always had a love of getting things in the mail, especially hand written letters or notes from friends or family and I also love to send mailbox surprises. Recently I started using a website called "Postcrossing" to exchange random postcards with people all around the world; I thought I would do a little more exploration to see if other people out there enjoy getting real mail as much as I do--and low and behold I have hit on a goldmine of different people in different locations longing for a little something in their post box.

There are a few links on the side that I think you might find interesting, please bare with me while I get this up and going. I will do my best to let the world know what I'm sending or what I have gotten and to post any links or articles that I come across in my search!

I welcome letters, cards or surprises from anyone who would like to send one and I am more than happy to send you a little something too, just let me know!
