Heck yeah, Thursday Mail!

Today was another good day to be my mailbox! I received a wonderful letter from Dana over at Save Snail Mail--we have both sent two letters now, I am super excited to write her back.

  • 4 cards came from Swap-bot--two state cards and two animal cards
  • 3 cards came from Postcrossing--one from Romania and the second a whimsical map
  • and the last 3 cards came from Walltype--one an art rendering, one an image of William & Catherine and the last (but not least) a beautiful view of the Smoky Mountains!
Pictures? But, of course!!!

My pretty Timber wolf from Marie in Minnesota

My map from Mahogany in Georgia and my Smoky Mountains from Denise

Art from Kathie in Rhode Island and Royalty from Yanelis in Florida (extra points!)

My state maps-- From Bonnie in NC and Chandra in LA

My (First!!!) Romanian card from Mihai and my Maine Moose Fact card from Linda

My letter from Dana

All of this wonderful mail and I must confess that I didn't send out a single thing today :( I know I know, I went right to sleep after my post. But tonight I am gathering up 3 swaps and a pen pal letter (two if I write back to Dana tonight!) and I'm going to see if I can get in on Walltype for some card swappin' tonight.

Oh, and I have help again so I am sure I will be A-OK

Tuesdays are sloooooowww

For those of you who don't know (which I suspect is most of you) I work in the banking industry. That said, Mondays and Fridays are busier than I care to think about when I'm home for the day, Wednesday and Thursdays are a pretty mixed bag of down time and steady flow, and then there is Tuesday. For me, (and everyone I have encountered) Tuesday just crawls by; there aren't as many customers, which leads to less paper work, less e-mails, less phone calls, less to double check, less to have authorized and just an over all sense of nothing to do.

Apparently my mail box felt the same way today. Sent out 5 pieces (3 Swap-bot, 1 Postcrossing and 1 Walltype) and I received two. But, as they say, great things come to those who wait.  Today's incoming mail included a postcard from Walltype user Postmuse AND a handwritten letter from the wonderful Dana over at Save Snail Mail!
Ms. Dana was kind enough to compliment my first attempt at a hand-made card, which you can see by going here (comments and tips very welcome). She also introduced me to a site called Splitcoast Stampers which offers tips, guidance and techniques for those who are feelin' crafty--you can also sign up for their weekly e-mail!

I had several postcards arrive to Walltype users, which makes for a fat and happy e-mail box as well as a postcard to Christian in France who heads up Can you send me a postcard. As usual, any link I include can be found on the left and if you know about something I don't or think I should, please share!

Here is my little PO Box (I wish I had a picture of the ones at my university, they were very cool) and here is to hoping Wednesday is a little more active :D

(Today's outgoing mail went to: The Netherlands, Malaysia, Ohio, Texas and Georgia)

Postcard Purchase...a couple of Sunday web finds

Sadly no mail today (remind me to do a future Sunday blog post about mail circulation on Sundays in the US and abroad...in fact, lets do that soon...)

For those of you who are in to collecting (or sending) vintage cards I have two sites for you to check out
  • Vintage Postcards (dot com)-- the site offers an entire catalogue you can search ranging from Military Action, Magic, Medical, Holidays and more. The cards on this site tend to be on the pricier side, however, this is a perfect resource for the collector.
  • Vintage Postcards (dot org)--offering a similar catalogue to search from carnivals and casinos to firefighting and royalty. Some of the cards will cost you a bit but there is plenty to choose from in the 5-25 dollars (USD) range.
Users wanting to order custom cards that can be designed from an available template OR created using the personal photos of the purchaser might want to check out :
  • Overnight Prints--postcards (as well as other writing/promotional materials) can be purchased in bulk and customized. Perfect for the trader who wants to have their blog/site/email/other info printed on the cards for the recipient or for the individual who likes to send multiple people the same card as it best represents them or their home.
These links (as well as the others I have mentioned in posts) have been added to the side bar for easy access.

Happy Sunday! Here's hopin' we all have full mail boxes in the morning :)

Now that's a lot of mail!

First Card

Here is my first attempt at a card. I know it isn't exactly involved but I figured it would be best to start simple. I obviously need work with the glitter painting :D . Hopefully, Dana over at Save Snail Mail ( the lucky recipient--at least the letter is it self is good!) wont laugh to hard.
